If you’ve ever wondered how you’d take plein
air studies and produce studio
canvases from them, then this course is for
you; an intensive field and studio based two
day course, aimed at bringing the outside in
Intended for painters who are comfortable with
oils, the course starts with plein air sketching
before moving into the studio to develop your
raw oil sketches into a painting plan, before
developing them into a larger, staged, studio

Our step by step approach to painting
Based around the production of a 30x 40” oil
landscape, the course is a mixture of
demonstration and tutored ‘hands-on’ painting.
At the end of the course you will have
produced several plein air oil sketches, dry
media sketches, a painting plan and a staged
studio oil painting to a method that you can
use in your own studio.
On Location is a great building block towards
‘Light & Atmosphere’, and the ideal partner to
our ‘Studio Painting’ course. Lunches,
materials for use on the day and course notes
are provided
